Bolttech : Modifiable Product / Parts CD ROM

Bolttech (www.bolttech.com) approached Polar Design with a request for an interactive CD-ROM that could be distributed with its products and contain key information such as product specifications, an owners manual, and an offline version of its website.

Polar Design created a CD using Flash, a technology for authoring multimedia presentations, that not only met the client's expectations of a compelling image and interactivity, but additionally allows the client to easily make changes to product lists and images with the CD ROM itself. This is possible due to Polar Design's carefully developed programming within the Flash presentation that allows it to obtain updates from an external "XML" file. This file can pass updated product and part information, including images, into the presentation itself, without requiring Bolttech to undertake expensive reauthoring by a professional Flash designer.

The end result is a CD-ROM that can grow and change with the firm, that saves Bolttech money on updates, and that provides it independence from design agencies, including Polar Design.
