Roger Rulewich and the Golf Group turned to Polar Design to develop its first website in early 2005 that would properly represent the group on the web with an innovative image that nevertheless avoided an ostentatious or flashy approach.
The project presented a dual challenge to Polar Design. First, the group is a small company that sought, on a limited budget, a complete branding exercise prior to site design. Roger Rulewich and the Golf Group agreed that careful development and documentation of a corporate identity would lead to a design with more resonance on the web, print and other media. This would, in the long run, lead to greater conversion of leads to customers than an image produced by simply launching into the design phase to save money.
The second challenge involved the complexity of the group's positioning. Roger Rulewich and the Golf Group posses renowned golf course designers whose legacy stretches to Robert Trent Jones. Golf course design goes beyond landscaping to include elements of architecture, land sculpting, land use planning, construction and environmental engineering. The firm possesses experience and the capability to handle all stages of golf course design. Yet at the same time, as a smaller design firm, takes a personal approach with its clients. Polar Design needed to balance these seemingly polar opposites.
Through our simplified, structured branding formation process, we developed a unique image that truly resonates all aspects of the Group's brand - from their work with the land, to their service orientation. The design utilizes gentle curves, suggestive of a golf course, along with a creatively conceived, subtle Flash banner whereby an architect's sketch is drawn and gradually morphs into an actual course.
